gonna have to cut this (rest week) BS short and come in and do these tomorrow.
Rest Night Dinner (Tomorrow Night)
Friday, September 5 at 8:00 PM (or when you finish up your workout)
Il Passatore
(About 100 yards from Black Box Brooklyn)
Excellent Italian food at very reasonable prices
Outdoor backyard seating, if weather permits
In so far: Allison, Audrey, Hari, Jessica, Juan, Kurt
We've made reservations for 10 and need to adjust up or down by tomorrow. The space is limited, so they need an accurate count.
I'll be heading there at the end of the 7:00 PM Manhattan Rest Day Seminar (on pacing a WOD).
Current Elements Members and Recent Grads are welcome.
Didnt see a response to Ryan's question yesterday, since those of us at the tail end of elements have already covered the deadlift can we come do the WOD today?
Yes, Elements people can come in for the normal workouts if they have already covered the topic.
However, especially with movements like the deadlift, make sure you have a trainer/member to work with. It is really easy to damage yourself if you do this lift improperly. I would recommend a good amount of mobility and warm up before hand and practice with lighter weights until the trainer/member says your form is good enough to go up to training weights.
Even with people who have been doing this for awhile, you will see the starting strength books out and corrections being made. See you tonight.
544m freestyle
at the rec center on 54th
Juan- that is a strange distance. Any reason for the number?
Did the deadlift last night. After warmup, it went:
245, 265, 265, 265, 265
I did a bunch before hitting that weight and definitely felt like it was a good amount to use. Back was just about to give out and un-arch.
The pool was 18 yds.
So I swam a few lenghts and did the math when i got to work.
Looked at the numbers again, i actually swam 543m.
(i hate math)
Ahhh crap. Assuming from the post that there are now two Craigs (I know Craig Chaikin is not requesting permission to deadlift) this could get confusing...any chance of using last initials for people with overlapping names? Or we could give nicknames...
yeah dude you should take Zach Morris now before any other Zachs show up.
yeah there's another ryan in elements too. i'm sure we'll develop some unique posting styles to differentiate ourselves.
anyway, deadlifts:
165-185-205-225-235
form went to shit on the last rep, which I guess means its about where my limit is. good to know. I should definitely be able to bring that up a bit though.
Zach-havent u noticed that everyone is either named Chris, Craig or Greg or some mixture of those? when i dont remember someones name i just say Craig and i tend to be correct! :)
