"Helen"

Three rounds for time:
Run 400 meters
1 1/2 pood Kettlebell X 21 swings (or 55 pound dumbbell swing)
12 Pull-ups

This came up on 21 August 2008, so some of you should have your times standing by for comparison. Whip 'em out, people - this is the method by which your progress is measured.

Post your times and whines to the comments.

It's also Day 42 of the Challenge-O-Rama! Aside from its important usage in the works of Douglas Adams, I have gotten along greatly with the number 42, especially when it occupies its "natural" (IMHO-YMMV) role in being the product of the coefficients 6 and 7. Curiously, this feeling of familiarity is absent when the multiplicand and multiplicator roles are filled by 14 and 3, respectively. The feeling is something along the lines of seeing your favorite play with understudys in the lead roles. I suspect the bounds of my early 12x12 multiplication table chart worship left such 14 multiple relationships out in the cold.

i hate helen!!!

Happy Bday again Dan R

THANK YOU greg, justin and moon! Not sure I would finish any workouts without you :)

8:27 (PR)

My grip was done by round 2. pull ups could have been cleaner/tighter. I was on pace for a 7:30 until my last round. i'm going to redouble my grip training

Thanks to everyone tonight who pushed and yelled at me, especially Dan R, Justin, Greg, Moon, Nicole - found out I could do pull-ups as rx'd without a belt!! That felt awesome!

14:08

But only did 20lb kettlebell. Will work on that.

Grace and Nicole you are both beasts... Thats was an impressive show by both of you. Everyone else kicked much ass tonight as well!!! I've been around CFNYC longer than most and tonight was just one of those times you really love being a part of it. Way to represent BBB!!!

I'd just like to second what Thor said. It was really great watching you two - and everyone, actually - who came by tonight. It really felt like a special night watching people do bandless pullups, swing heavy bells and even run the whole 400 meters when I was out there chasing some of you along. Thanks for showing up and giving it your all!

Great work today everyone on Helen!

Torch, you smoked that WOD.

Nicole, you did awesome today!

And Grace, congrats on getting pull-ups! See, that silly black band is all mental given that you managed 4 kipping pullups in a row. For next time, let's make sure you have a 16Kg kettlebell. And while we're at it -- don't make us take reps away from you on those pull-ups...

9:28 as RX'd -- PR for me. The first three runs just plain sucked. The supplemental runs felt pretty damn good though.

Oh, and thanks again to everyone for the birthday wishes!

felt very unmotivated today

WOD @ home
5 rounds
5 DB power cleans, 55# DBs
10 overhead walking lunges, 35# DB, 5 per side, starting with contralateral steps
10 ring push ups
10 quasi-butterfly kip pull ups
11:22

not sure how motivated I feel right now

PS - the DB power cleans sucked. Felt like an injury just waiting to happen.

14:10
as Rxed

I'm hoping moon and torch can give me a kipping chinup as an early christmas present. I'm dying on the dead hangs.

great work by everyone. energy in the room was popping off.

1st Helen and a great room last night!

Good run Torch and Gavin, trying to keep pace really kept me going. Thanks to Thor, Bauer, Sam, and whomever else I didn't notice yelling at me and correcting my form on the swings.

And hell yes, thanks Moon for making me pull through all those pullups w/o the band. Hopefully I can get a little kipping clinic over the weekend- or get myself a kipping present under the tree too. Almost there, but it sure would help.

Werd. Not back 'til Thurs and that bums me out.
