Nicole W.'s real-world demonstration of the difference between over-thinking what one can do and what one can actually do. She came in with the goal of possibly getting close to her previous PR of 190. Seeing much more potential in her early lifts, we slowly ramped up the weight without letting her know the actual value. Here she is shown lifting what she will later learn is 220, the new PR. Nicole G., Thea, Wu Sisters - you're next!
Just a quick announcement about the Tournament on 16 February. Because we don't have that many participants ready on the Brooklyn end, we are opening the gates to allow for all Manhattan members who started CrossFit after Brooklyn opened (say, around May/June 2008) to participate. We still plan to randomize the teams, however, so there will not be an "Affluentards vs Hipstards" theme during this event.
Almost forgot. I know sometimes it's hard to maintain good diet discipline at all times. It can be trying to make those store runs possibly even multiple times per week (given storage requirements, fresh produce needs, etc), but please consider that our urban density does make it fairly easy for us NYC folk to pop out to the store to get some food compared to most places. This is especially true when compared to organizing a shopping trip in remote areas of Alaska...
