TUESDAY 090505

Ten rounds for time of:
3 Weighted Pull-ups, 45 pounds
5 Strict Pull-ups
7 Kipping Pull-up

For weighted pull-ups place a 45 pound dumbbell between the legs above crossed ankles and jettison the dumbbell after third rep and continue with strict pull-ups and then the kipping pull-ups. Coming off the bar or going to ground constitutes termination of a set.

Post time and number of sets to completion.

So right now we run CFE on saturdays and sundays in BK. What other times would work best for people?

Also today is the birthday of a member who shall herein remain unnamed... He has short hair and an affinity for justice. I will be in manhattan tomorrow night, but Jeff will take care of him!

A 7AM or 8 AM tuesday or thursday CFE would be good

I owe you a bday WOD. I had one planned, but it would have been especially cruel to impose on you after today's WOD.

20 sets, 19:16

Sets were consistent throughout. Each round was broken into two sets:

3 weighted + 3 strict, 2 strict + 7 kipping

Even though I still find the pull up grip more comfortable and natural, much of my improvement here is almost certainly due to switching to the chin grip.

Notes:

* kipped the weighted pull ups (like last time)
* used hand grips made from those tacky, rubbery drawer liners (maybe last time I used Keith’s tape grips, but not sure)
* a few times at the end of my sets, I lowered onto the box instead of lowering to full extension at dead hang
* may have accidentally closed my hips a little a few times on a few of the strict dead hangs (e.g., immediately after dropping the DB or near the end of the set as fatigue set in)
* about 2 of my weighted pull ups may have been borderline for chin over bar

Next time I’ll aim for kipping chest-to-bar. The time after that, I’ll try to add kipping weighted chest-to-bar. Eventually, I’ll hope to do the stricts chest-to-bar as well. This is assuming that going chest-to-bar with kipping weighted pull ups is easier to do than going chest-to-bar with unweighted strict pull ups.
