This is just not true. The metal casing on older machines does not make the machines sew any better. It's what's on the inside that counts. Today's quality Sewing machines are all metal on the insides. The casings are plastic to make the machine lighter. A good sewing machine still weighs about 24 pounds.
Can I bring a non-beading companion with me? Absolutely! There are plenty of activities in the local area to keep non-beading companions busy (see venue details). They are also welcome to join us at group dinners.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players.
